Field guide No. 621
Autumn leaves suspended in the goal
The net is made of the season.
On a playing field in autumn, a goal has no net, just a wall of fallen leaves hanging in the frame with a few gaps punched through. The wind scores now and then.
Field noteLeaves fall. These have stopped in a goalmouth and hold their places like netting. Only gravity objects.
Also possible, also breaking physics
The last unread snowfallBooks describe snow; they don’t usually issue it. The rest of the desk is perfectly ordinary.
Frozen curtains at summer's endCurtains drop when the wind does. These froze clear mid-billow, icicles on the hems.
Blue butterfly through the lockA butterfly wing passes through a rusted padlock. The gate accepted a very small key.
The floor beneath the boxA box with no base and a floor with a hole of its exact size. Contents fell through; the picture stays consistent.
