Field guide No. 502
An open door in sand
Sea view, sand interior.
A sand-coloured door stands open in the side of a dune on an empty beach, onto a small room dug out of more sand. The wind has already been in.
Field noteDunes move and doors don’t. A door cast in the dune’s own sand opens on a room the wind hasn’t filled yet.
Also possible, also breaking material
Sugar cube ant escapeAnts carry sugar off grain by grain. Ants made of sugar are a different arrangement.
Where the fox wasStone takes prints only over ages. This one took a fox’s nap in detail and kept it.
Foxfire lodgeGlassblowers make foxes and modellers make cabins. Here they have collaborated, and lit it.
Still water in a vintage carriageSeats of standing water require water that stands. Physics declines; logic shrugs.
