Field guide No. 420
A dog dreaming of July
Snoozing through to summer.
An old dog sleeps curled in the snow against a cabin wall, and in the window beside it the same dog sleeps on green summer grass. The reflection got the better deal.
Field noteOne pane shows a winter yard and a summer one at once. A reflection should at least agree on the month.

Winter drawBehind a slab in a red canyon there should be more canyon. Through the door there is snow instead.
Flames within the icebergA fire inside ice that doesn’t melt it is both hot and not hot at the same place.
Knotted river through autumn marshWater in a knot has to cross over itself, flowing above its own surface without a bridge.
Lunar eclipse, impossible spotlightAn eclipse is the place light isn’t. A beam pouring out of its dark middle is shade shining.
