Field guide No. 1065
A curtain made of shadow
Drawn, but not by anyone.
A bedroom window is hung with pink linen curtains, and the dark curtain shapes on the wall and floor appear to hang with real folds. The shadows have better drapery than the curtains.
Field noteShadows on a bedroom wall fall in heavy folds. Cloth would struggle to drape this well.
Also possible, also breaking material
The inflated highwayTarmac cracks long before it swells. Blown up like a lilo, it’s behaving like rubber.
Ripples in the emerald feltBaize ripples and splashes as if poured. The balls went in like stones into a pond.
Stone inside a cracked eggA speckled granite stone sits in the clear white. Breakfast has become a geology question.
Broken pot with impossible soil shardsLoose soil spills when its pot breaks; this earth snapped clean along the cracks like baked sponge.
