Field guide No. 769
Wallpaper beyond the wall
Pattern continues outside.
In an empty room, the dark leaf wallpaper carries on past the corner and off the wall, its vines growing across the open air and out through the window. It was a large roll.
Field noteWallpaper is defined by the wall. This pattern has left it and hangs in the air with nothing to be paper on.

Water from a thirsty shadowA dark shadow pours over the edge like water. It has stopped behaving like shade.
Zebra with floating stripesZebra markings are colour in the hair, so stripes drifting off alone are patterns without a coat.
Cat emerging from the printed pageHalf of it is ink on paper and half of it is cat. It can’t be both the picture and the thing pictured.
The garden’s colors in the washColour belongs to the flowers, not to the air near them. Here it ran off the garden into a sheet like dye.
