Field guide No. 133
The spool viaduct
Threaded across the gorge.
A giant spool of red thread unwinds into a rope bridge across a misty mountain gorge, with hikers on their way over.
Field noteRope bridges are thread, slightly more of it. The spool supplies the rest.

Seals and the surging seaA screen is a picture of the sea, not the sea. The seals came anyway.
Room to expandBellows-shaped buildings are a structural engineer’s problem, not a philosopher’s.
The sleeping matchSheep sleep and matches are wooden. Combining the two takes a carpenter, not a paradox.
Cracked eggshell bag, golden yolkA paper bag printed with speckles holds a yolk badly but coherently. Packaging, misjudged.
