Field guide No. 1221
The log's unfinished staircase
Three steps, and a forest.
A mossy fallen log in a fern-filled wood has been cut into three rough steps at one end. The staircase stops at the third step, on principle.
Field noteThree steps cut in a log and then abandoned. Someone could have done this on a slow afternoon; it simply was not done.
Also possible, also breaking nothing
Leaves sprout from a dry poolPool tiles split along the lane lines to let broad leaves through.
Low tide laundryFish-print sheets are a choice, not a contradiction. They simply haven’t been hung here yet.
Cracked plate, unbroken cobalt ringsBlue rings painted across cracks remain a design. The plate has broken; the pattern has not.
Luminous fog across the valleySunlight illuminates fog drifting through a mountain valley. The hills have received a soft delivery.
