Field guide No. 351
Desert sand from brass mailboxes
Mostly sand, some bills.
In a tiled post office, rows of brass mailboxes stand open and pour streams of sand onto the floor, which has become dunes. Nobody has checked their box in some time.
Field noteEach box holds a few letters, yet pours out a desert. More comes out than fits in.

Thunderstorms in the spare bulbsA thunderstorm is miles wide. A thunderstorm the size of a bulb is a smaller thing than itself.
Space to soakGalaxies run to a hundred thousand light years. The tub runs to about five feet.
Cold desertDeserts are hot and wide; ice cubes are neither. This one keeps a whole desert chilled.
Autumn under glassA forest, waterfall and all, in an acorn, in autumn, in the snow. Too much, and too late in the year.
