Field guide No. 1412
A yawning porcelain plate
Too tired for dinner
A white dinner plate on a green table has porcelain lips in its centre, opened wide in a yawn. It has been waiting for the main course a long time.
Field notePorcelain can be cast into lips, but this glaze is stretched mid-yawn, which needs a jaw.

Snake-tipped fiddleheads in springFiddleheads coil like snakes, and here the likeness went too far. Fern at the bottom, viper at the tip.
Late checkoutAn open suitcase holds seawater on a rocky beach. The room has been returned to the tide.
Amber winged bat in a limestone caveWingspan of varnished maple, f-holes cut where the membrane should be.
The sleeping matchSheep sleep and matches are wooden. Combining the two takes a carpenter, not a paradox.
