Field guide No. 225
A door for nobody
Stream on one side, beach on the other.
Seen from above, a weathered blue door lies flat where a rushing stream meets a patch of smooth sand, the water stopping neatly at its edge. It doesn't open. It does, apparently, work.
Field noteDoors don’t usually hold back streams while lying down. Water’s choice, not a contradiction.
Also possible, also breaking physics
A small rebellionWood with walking roots is biology overreaching. No rule of chess says pawns can’t leave.
Seven horses across the waterfallHorses need ground; falling water isn’t any. Gravity objects, logic doesn’t.
The chalk migrationPaper birds fold easily; napkins hold a shape. Flying south is an aerodynamic stretch.
The last unread snowfallBooks describe snow; they don’t usually issue it. The rest of the desk is perfectly ordinary.
